The increased awareness of climate change, energy cost / reliability concerns and movement to modernize the North American electric grid is heralding a new set of problems for building owners, utilities and the region’s business and society in general.

These problems bring significant opportunities for building systems professionals as well as smart grid players to explore how the two areas can assist each other to solve the challenges that are now widely acknowledged as major and significant.

Driving Forces for B2G

  • Creation of the Electranet
  • Climate Change
  • Energy Costs
  • Managing Carbon Footprint
  • Demand for Green Buildings

Commercial and industrial buildings are significant users of electricity, using around 40% of electricity and contributing a similar percentage of green house gasses.

In light of this urgency, Clasma Events, working in partnership with the GridWise Architecture Council and the NewEnergy Alliance, is organizing the first of a series of B2G (Buildings-to-Grid) Summits.

Objectives...

  • Bring together thought leaders in buildings and smart grid
  • Present smart grid opportunities to buildings leaders
  • Present buildings-related activities to smart grid stakeholders
  • Outline a plan forward for buildings-to-grid integration

Conference Designed for...

  • Building systems leaders
  • HVAC, integration, open systems & security areas
  • Energy management professionals working with buildings
  • Demand Response stakeholders
  • Smart grid thought leaders
  • Utility, ISO and RTO players

The Summit will assemble leaders from both buildings and smart grid areas to discuss and plan a course of action that will use information technology and new business models to help solve this most pressing challenge of our time.
